  Borrowing in the US Private Placement Market - a Credit Crunch Story/Case Study

This session held in The Clarion Hotel, IFSC, Dublin 1, talked about borrowing in the U.S. Private Placement market, a market that more and more Irish companies are looking to for long term funds. Michael Barry, Director of Finance and Corporate Services spoke of Bord na Mona's specific experience in the markets, and what the issues of concern were etc. Barclays supported Bord na Mona in their fund raising and Angus Whelchel, Director – Private Capital Markets, Barclays Capital, also talked more generally about the market.

  The Credit Crunch - a borrower's perspective

  Investment Funds overview for Corporate Treasurers
The effects of the sub-prime market and the ensuing credit and liquidity crisis were the main talking points of the conference endorsed by the Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers (IACT) in September 2007. It saw treasurers addressing the main issues of the day, notably the effect of the credit and liquidity crisis on the profession, and the general economic outlook for treasurers. Topics as diverse as global warming and pension risk were also covered at the two-day event.

The Association is a member association of the European Associations of Corporate Treasurers (the "EACT").   Code of Standard Practices for Rating Agencies
This draft Code of Standard Practices for Rating Agencies was prepared and issued on behalf of the EACT and the IGTA, of each of which the Association is an active member. It has been welcomed by IOSCO and some of its proposals were incorporated in IOSCO's 2004 Code. Also attached are a related IGTA Press Release and an IGTA April 2005 Status Report.
